Five Years of Riding to Make Wishes Come True

From September 18 to 20, 2026, l’Empreinte will take part in the Make-A-Wish | Rêves d’enfants Canada 48-HOUR RIDE for the fifth consecutive year.

Since 2022, colleagues have been getting on their bikes to take on a shared challenge, but above all, to support a meaningful cause: helping grant wishes to children living with critical illnesses.

It all started in 2022, when Luc Janson, a former shareholder of l’Empreinte and an avid cyclist, invited a few colleagues to take part. The first team brought together six participants.

The following year, the Social Club Committee took up the challenge. Several participants had limited cycling experience, so Wednesday evening rides after work quickly became a regular part of the summer. They trained together, improved together and prepared for the event as a team. In 2023, three l’Empreinte teams took part.

In 2024, the initiative gained even more momentum. The Social Club Committee took charge of organizing the weekend, and five teams registered, a record for l’Empreinte. Together, they raised $24,619 for Make-A-Wish.

In 2025, four teams continued the tradition. Training rides became longer and faster, with some participants completing rides of more than 100 km.

During the 48-HOUR RIDE, l’Empreinte cyclists covered a combined 4,673 km, roughly the equivalent of a round trip from Laval to Orlando. Their efforts also helped raise $17,515 for the cause.

Beyond the physical challenge, the cause is especially meaningful to our team. Supporting children living with critical illnesses gives purpose to every training ride, fundraising effort, hour of organization and kilometre covered.

The 48-HOUR RIDE is about much more than cycling for a weekend. It is an opportunity to come together, push personal limits and contribute to something that can make a real difference in a child’s life.

Five years after that first team took to the track, the motivation remains the same: to ride together and help Make-A-Wish create meaningful moments for children and their families.
